To meet the needs outlined in the 2024-25 PHSD Workforce Development Plan, the Workforce Development Program will be hosting a three-part communications training series to close out the year! The training will be conducted by Alan D. Hansen II, Ph.D. who is a Professor in the Communications Department at Carroll College. The first training of the three-part series will take place next week, Nov. 6 at 2PM. Please see below and attached for more information.

Session 1: Communication and Confidence will take place Wednesday, Nov. 6 from 2pm – 3pm, and will focus on helping participants build confidence while communicating. This interactive session will explore communication contexts, styles, and self-presentation techniques, helping you navigate any professional setting with ease. You'll gain practical tools to project confidence, adapt your communication style and foster clear, authentic interactions.
By the end of the training, participants will be able to:
- Recognize and adapt to different contexts and settings.
- Identify various communication styles and understand their impact on interactions.
- Develop awareness of self-presentation, including body language, tone, and word choice to communicate.
- Understand how to use both verbal and non-verbal cues to reinforce their message.
Session 2: Audience and Listening, will be Wednesday November 20th from 2pm – 3pm. Register for Session 2 here.
