The Public Health and Safety Division is thrilled to announce their newest program team- Local and Tribal Support. As part of building a healthier Montana and the Public Health Strengthening grant, this program was created to help support Montana's Local and Tribal Health Departments. This program builds upon work performed by the System Improvement Office and Kerry Pride to provide financial resources and technical assistance to counties and Tribes wishing work towards completing their CHA, CHIP, strategic plans, workforce development plans, quality improvement plans, performance management, Pathways to Recognition, and/or full Public Health Accreditation. Program staff provide resources and assistance in the following areas: facilitation and planning, data collection, data analysis, templates, communication support, monitoring and evaluation of plans, and other resources as requested.

Neva Loney: Prior to joining the PHSD in 2021, Neva worked as an operations manager for 15+ years and business analyst trainer for 5 years.  Neva is excited to bring her experience of team management and analyzing systems and processes to public health to help advance conditions for healthy living. Neva spent her childhood years in Western Washington before attending Washington State University to earn a degree in business administration. She currently lives in Missoula with her family and enjoys spending time outdoors and taking on large projects.

Meagan Gillespie: Meagan was born and raised in Montana. She has been with DPHHS for over two years and has particularly enjoyed working with local health department staff. In her free time, Meagan enjoys spending time with family, rafting, skiing, and golfing.

Rich Knecht:  Richard was raised on the east coast in New York City and recently moved to Montana around two years ago. He has been working for the State of Montana ever since then and has currently started working for the PHSD as the accreditation coordinator. He enjoys exploring the nature that Montana has to offer and the many aviation activities.
