    Below is a list of upcoming trainings for the month of December. They are hosted by various training centers, and this is in no way an exhaustive list. Please feel free to add any trainings to the discussion. 

    Prevention and Early Diagnosis of Ovarian Cancer | Dec. 3 |

    ACOG is pleased to offer the free online course Prevention and Early Diagnosis of Ovarian Cancer, which summarizes the relevant literature and existing recommendations to guide clinicians in the equitable prevention, early diagnosis, and special considerations of ovarian cancer. This course provides the opportunity for CE Credits.

    Ethics in Prevention Foundations: A Guide for Substance Abuse Prevention Practitioners | Dec. 4

    This free moderated course is designed to span two weeks and will take approximately six hours to complete on the learner's own time. There are five learning forum assignments designed to promote a deeper understanding of course content through personal reflection and group discussion.

    Foundational Interview Skills for Communicable Disease Interviewing | Dec. 4 | 9am – 1:30pm

    The Foundational Interview Skills training is an interactive, half-day virtual course intended for professionals working with communicable disease interviewing. The first half of the training will include breaking into groups for an interview skills practice session and a presentation on interview skills and techniques. The second half of the training will include a second interview skills practice session. All activities will be discussed as a large group and participants will receive mentoring and advice from facilitators and peers throughout the training.

    Waterborne Infectious Disease Burden and Recreational Water-Associated Illness in the United States | Dec. 4 | 12pm Join the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in this free webinar to learn about the latest research on the burden of waterborne infectious disease, with a particular focus on estimates and prevention of recreational water-associated illness. Infectious waterborne disease continues to have a substantial impact on public health in the United States, despite widespread use of water treatment and disinfection in drinking water systems and recreational water venues.

    Design Effective Meetings | Dec. 5 | 2pm – 4pm

    This free workshop focuses on the key leadership skill of how to plan and structure a meeting to achieve your desired outcomes. We will address the strategic skill of Persuasive Communication and explore strategies for leading meetings that are inclusive, invite dialogue and engagement, and motivate participants to action. We'll also provide actionable strategies and techniques to help keep your meetings on point and action oriented.

    Climate for Health Ambassador Training for Public Health Professionals | Dec. 5 or 7 | 1pm – 3pm

    Did you know more than 70% of people in the U.S. say they are concerned about climate change and more than 40% say they are very concerned, but think only 14% around them are very concerned? You, as a trusted health professional, can help others see they're not alone in their concern and invite them to take action. This free, interactive virtual training equips you with the knowledge, hands-on experience, and resources to speak and take action on climate in your home, neighborhood, workplace, community, with policymakers, and beyond.

    Always Food Safe" Revolutionizing Food Safety Training Nationwide | Dec. 6 | 12pm

    Join our free webinar to explore how "Always Food Safe" has become the contemporary solution to food safety training nationwide. We'll delve into the dynamic online platform that offers accessible, engaging, and comprehensive training for food handlers, chefs, and restaurant staff. Discover how this innovative approach not only ensures compliance with food safety regulations but also elevates the standards of food hygiene in the industry.

    Creating Healthy Communities through Cultural Appreciation | Dec. 6 | 8am - 9am

    Cultural organizing has emerged as a multidisciplinary community of practice at the intersection of art, cultural work, and social change. It is about integrating arts and culture into organizing strategies. It is also about organizing from a particular tradition, cultural identity, community of place or worldview. This free webinar hosted by the Institute for Public Strategies will explore how community organizers can root their organizing in local culture and make room for people to bring their full selves to the table.

    A Conversation with Rahul Gupta | Dec. 7 | 11am – 1pm

    Boston University School of Public Health is honored to host Rahul Gupta, MD, MPH, MBA, FACP, Director of the Office of National Drug Control Policy. This online discussion is cohosted with the Grayken Center for Addiction.  It will be moderated by Dean Sandro Galea. 

    Action Steps to Disrupt Inequitable Health Outcomes: The Role of Policy in Advancing Health Equity | Dec. 7 | 12pm NACCHO and Pfizer's Multicultural Health Equity Collective (The Collective) are hosting this free webinar to sustain a focus on practical policy solutions that can help disrupt inequitable health outcomes and achieve health equity. Innovation in local, state, and federal health policy are essential to this goal and collaborative approaches across industry sectors can help move the mission forward. Hear from some of the partners that contributed to the 2022 Health Equity in Action Summit and the subsequent community-developed action guide that focuses on generating solutions in policy, workforce pipeline, research and data, and healthcare facilities and systems.

    Rural Data: Telling Stories with Numbers | Dec. 7 | 12pm – 1pm

    Rural datasets can be difficult to find and even more difficult to analyze. But utilizing data in telling rural stories is a great way to interrogate, and disprove, widespread misconceptions about rural America. Join a panel of rural-focused reporters and editors in this free webinar, as we talk about where the heck to get rural data, the relationship between datasets and story ideation, and review some of our favorite data stories. Panelists include Daily Yonder Editor Tim Marema, Daily Yonder Data Correspondent Sarah Melotte, and Dr. Megan Lawson of Headwaters Economics.

    Trauma-Informed, Resilience-Oriented, Equity-Focused Leadership Track Workshop | Dec. 12 | 12pm

    This free virtual workshop will provide an overview of the concept of trauma and its impact on the body and mind. The workshop will also address different forms of safety including physical, psychological, moral, cultural, and social considerations. We will explore practical skills for public health leadership to address common safety concerns.

    Advocacy in Public Health: Making a Difference in Your Community | Dec. 13 | 12pm – 1pm

    Grow your knowledge and skill to become an effective advocate for improving public health in this free webinar. Participants will gain a comprehensive understanding of public health advocacy, from identifying critical health issues and building effective campaigns to navigating challenges, measuring impact, and adhering to ethical principles.

    Foster Gratitude & Appreciation for Life | Dec. 14 | 10am – 11am

    This free virtual training given by Jen Racicot and hosted by the Montana Public Health Training Center

    Primary Data Collection Overview and Resources | Dec. 19 | 2pm – 3pm

    This free webinar is a part of a series of 6 webinars to provide an overview of how to complete a Community Health Assessment (CHA) and a Community Health Improvement Plan (CHIP). This webinar will go over secondary data resources and provide an overview of Insights dashboard. These are voluntary processes undertaken by Local and Tribal Health Departments that are rolled up to be included in the State Health Assessment and are very similar to the assessment and planning processes required of non-profit hospitals. This training is offered by the System Improvement Office.
