Empowering Cultural Humility & Belonging in Public Health Practice

WHAT TO EXPECT
This hands-on workshop is designed to deepen your understanding of cultural competency, cultural humility, and cultural safety. Through a dynamic presentation and other activities, participants will explore the importance of creating inclusive spaces and the benefits of cultural humility in enhancing workplace and community belonging. Participants will engage in self-reflective practices and foster curiosity to build a more inclusive environment. They will also participate in small and large group discussion on key terms such as health equity, unconscious bias, and privilege, and compare Western and Indigenous models of values and teachings.

By the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:
- Articulate the differences between cultural competency, cultural humility, and cultural safety.
- Identify the benefits of cultural humility to enhance workplace and community belonging.
- Demonstrate self-reflective practices and curiosity to foster a more inclusive environment.
